Two mechanics, Taiwo Azeez, 23 and Isiaka Taofeek, 20, have been charged before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos State for allegedly gang-raping the 28-year-old daughter of their employer, identified as Kikelomo Agbebi on July 30, 2016.
The duo appeared on a two-count charge of conspiracy and rape, were alleged to have forcefully had sexual intercourse with their victim after overpowering her at her father's residence located on 3, Meiran road, Meiran-Ijaiye area of the state.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Uwadione, explained that the victim's father had solicited the services of the duo to carry out a painting job in his 3-bedroom apartment and they obliged to take up the job.
“It was during the course of painting the rooms that the accused forcefully took turns in having sexual intercourse with Agbebi in one of the rooms where she was staying,” Uwadione said, noting that the offences contravened Sections 258 and 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
The suspects however pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them and the president of the court, Chief Magistrate Oluyemisi Adelaja, admitted them to N300,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum, while adjourning the matter till September 5, for hearing.
